You try to help somebody but they just throw it straight back in your face!

Today while standing in HMV trying to decide which DVD to purchase to use as my revision distraction activity I overhear this conversation (a conversation happening just behind me):

[Note: This is a absolutely accurate account of what was said.]

Lady, customer (~35 years old): Excuse me
HMV Shop Assistant(HSA): Yes, how can I help?
Lady: I was wondering; are the music video DVDs part of the sale?
HSA: Er, no sorry madam but they are over there *points* and they are not included in our end of summer sale. Was there anything you are looking for that I can help you find?
*I turn around at this moment to look at the next shelf, by doing this I am facing the lady*
Lady: Yes, actually I am looking for a Will Young video
Me: *totally reflex reactionary comment* What the hell for?
Lady: Excuse me, were you talking to me?
Me: Er.... no.... um.... sorry *exits stage left, fast*
Lady to HSA: How rude.

I can't believe I actually said that out loud. I guess it is only fair as it would have been rather rude to not give her a hint that her taste sucks.

Heh. You haven't been in Tesco and watched people try their best to avoid eye contact with you when you let them past...

Anyway, perhaps she was complimenting you. For a brief moment at the end of the '80s, "rude" translated roughly as "cool".

(Does anybody else remember the Rude Dog cartoon?)

Oh yes. You don't appear to be getting spam on updates about Borange.

Must try harder.

Sounds like you served a public service. Even though I have never heard of Will Young (seems as though I may be better off).

I'm never quite this blatant. I tend to be an eye roller or groaner. Not always terribly subtle but not "What the hell for?" either!
