It's official - Exeter University has declared me a NERD

Yesterday I was rather shell shocked. Today I feel only a little shocked, but nevertheless still slightly taken aback. The reason for this.... my results..... I got something I didn't think was possible for me to get.... I got something that I didn't deserve..... I got something that is going to secure my dream job in Oz..... I got something that I was aiming for when I was young and hopeful in the first year.... I got

A FIRST CLASS DEGREE

I am now a BSc. Hons. Although I don't know whether or not that means people have to call me “Sir”. I must research that.

To top of my success I also beat James* at squash for the first time in a few months. For some reason I am the luckiest man alive (this week). Thank you God!

James organised a little bloke’s night in and I went round his house and watched him eat curry (I had already OD'd on celebratory sausages) and we watched Con Air and drank beer. James took some photos with his new camera....

Cheesy Grin
Nurton's "I've just got a first" cheesy grin. You won't witness this too often!

Fat bastard
When you've had a day as good as that you are allowed to eat ice cream straight from the from the tub even though it’s not right, in the same way that Dawn French is allowed to be fat because she's funny.

My housemate Phil also got a 1st (Mathematics) which he certainly deserved as he is always working. Nick got a VERY well deserve 2:1 (Business and Economics, or something like that) and Harry also got a well earned 2:1 (History and Digging up bones, or something like that). Also worthy of a mention is Kat who also got a well deserved 2:1 which although her reaction was "Oh damn I was hoping for a 2:2 so I had an excuse to avoid ever getting a proper job" I know she is very proud of, or at least she should be because she definitely earned it. Well done.

So congratulations to everybody!

*James with the other English students gets his results tomorrow, so good luck mate!!!!!

Have they no standards? Why is it possible to get a 1st class with less 50% total marks?

Where do you get the idea of less than 50%?

CONGRATULATIONS TO DIGGS who also got a first. Although he is a bit of a book nerd so I expected as much from him!

Cheers mate, though I am not that much of a book nerd. Still, better to be a book nerd than a computer nerd - i can always take off the tweed jacket with leather elbow-patches more easily than a computer nerd can take off their Dr Who t-shirt.

Amazingly, you may not believe it, but I don't own a Dr. Who t-shirt. Something for christmas maybe????

Congrats, Nurt! You look extremely pleased. I remember those "end of classes" feelings well. Actually, since I just graduated in December, I remember them very well.

Enjoy!

70% for a First? Is that all?

Too many firsts are the degree level equivalent of A*'s at GCSE...

Anybody want to buy some marking off me?

Well I would have thought that as well, but only 7 people got 1st on my course out of over 100 students. I wouldn't say that was too many!
