NMW celebrates 1000's hits

On Monday last week the Nurton Meets World blog recorded its 1000th hit. This I feel was a little milestone worth celebrating. We are now on 1141 hits and this is growing by an average of 30 per day. This is amazing! When I started this blog I did it as an experiment to see who would read it but primarily as a procrastination activity. Thanks to everybody who has helped to build this total, keep visiting and commenting and I will endeavour to keep entertaining you with my tales.

A few people who deserve a special mention:

- Darth Kendrick (aka Stuart (aka Venison boy)) – his far superior writing skills have meant that 1 in 5 post on this blog are worth reading.
- The kind people at Google - As they seem to be direction all searches for "Su Doku" to this page!
- Bandick's blog as this is the site I get the most referrals from. I hope some people go the other way as well!
- Everybody else who has commented (except for some French f*cker and some bloody Womble who tried to diss Darth and Nurton)

May I propose a toast to the good health of NMW for the next two months!

Cheers!

Ps: New competition should be launched at some point this week.

So many accomplishments on your end this week!

I aspire to someday reach blog superstardom as you have - although I think my hits are somewhere around 20 right now . . .

Congrats!

What's the difference between 'snog' and 'shag'?

Is that a trick question? Why do you want to know?

Dear Hurt!

Sorry you feel left out of the CNF honours list. Does the below phrase of gratitude not include you?.....

"- Everybody else who has commented (except for some French f*cker and some bloody Womble who tried to diss Darth and Nurton)"

If you have been logging on 4x a day that probably means that excluding you my actual hit count is about 63 in 2 months. I wish you hadn't told me now!

Ah wow!!!!! I am so glad you are watching Coupling (the English version). I hear the US verson is a big pile of shit? Coupling series 1 -3 are some of the best sitcoms to come from the UK in the last 10 years. Jeff is one of my all time favourite characters, mostly because he reminds me so much of my mate Darth! The episode "The man with too many legs" is one of the best scripts ever written.

Anyway..... Snog is a full on passionate kiss.
Shag is a casual phrase used to refer to sex. Often a one night stand would be refered to as "I shagged him last night".(watch Austin Powers for a more detailed definition). I didn't realise that these phases hadn't made it across the pond!

Keep watching British sitcoms. Do everything you can to get a hold of a series called "Spaced". It is pure genius! (I don't think it was released in the States so you'll have to get a British copy)

Dear M.Tofangdar

Nice pics. Although this isn't an advertising space for your blog, would be nice if you commented or showed some kind of interest in this blog.

I just need to say this everytime anyone mentions Sarah Alexander - she is going out with a bloke in his late 50s! What is that all about?! She is a hottie and he is a wrinkly (I've seen a photo of him, he's not even good looking).

As Johnno and I often remark, if ugly blokes start getting fit girls on a regular basis it removes the advantage nature handed us at birth, and that will upset the whole equilibrium of society.

Anyway, that's my two-penneth.

"if ugly blokes start getting fit girls on a regular basis.... " - sounds good to me!

But Mark you may be "a fitty" yourself, but remember you'll never surpass Chrishead with his shaved legs, home made vest and 3/4 length trousers!

Well, of course Thompson is the ideal to which we all aspire - a man so blessed in his way with the ladies that if the killer looks and dress-sense don't nab them, then inspiring sympathy will! (I think we both kmow to what I refer!)

Sorry Jon, that wasn't directed at you. It was a some random French person who left a very rude comment on here about a month ago. If you look back you might find it.

Speaking of Coupling, everyone here stateside was so curious about it. Not just the big media build-up (TOO many ads!) but it was from such a solid source. So tuning in for a quick 5 minutes, I saw a show that was way below average. Network yanked it within minutes! They didn't even allow it the dignity to keep its place in the November ratings sweep.

What really shocked me is I met a couple at an event in LA last week, and the topic came up: English comedies. The good, the bad, the amazing. I asked, what the heck happened with Coupling! They said they were at the live taping (English version), and it was HYSTERICAL. They thought it was totally screwed up in the editing. So apparantly, the show did rather well... if you were there live in the audience to see the taping. Hilarious, with great chemistry. Well, these 2 reviewers are industry folk, so they had no reason to make it up.

America really screwed up on that one, somehow. But I'll tell you. Thank god we got All In The Family right! That made the jump across the water. One of the all-time best. Norman Lear's the man!

Are you saying that UK Coupling is rubbish, or the US version (billed to replace Friends (not likely from what I heard of the reviews)) is. The UK one is classic, I haven't seen the US series. To be honest though, the UK programme would be rubbish without Geoff's character, as series 4 proved (it was rubbish!)

Yeah, no! I got it wrong and just realized. Your series there is classic.

I meant that the people who saw the American version were at the live taping (which I should've called the Burbank version, since that's where alot of stuff is taped).

According to them, it was excellent. Just hysterical at the taping. Apparently, things must've gotten really screwed up in post-production... they must've edited out all the laughs and chemistry... or something.
