What I did tonight

- Cooked Harry and myself chilli for dinner.

- Watched two episodes of 'Spaced'. A superb British sitcom. Buy it now here. You might be able to get it for less on cd-wow.com or amazon.com. You will not regret it. Even if you are American you will find it funny, although references to 'Robot Wars' and the 'TA' might pass you by. I don't think it was ever released on region 1 DVD, so you'll have to find a multiregional DVD player. But it will be worth it. Trust me! I would recommend that you watch series 2 first. Please back me up and comment here if you love 'Spaced'

- 'Spaced' was followed by 30 minutes of procrastination and then Harry and I sat down to watch the channel 4 film, Spellbound.

Documentaries should not be films.

Was entertaining in parts though, here are my favourite quotes:

Quizmaster: "Spell 'Mayonnaise'"
Child 1: "Um.... 'A'.... oh damn, I've got it wrong haven't I?"

Harry(the kid not my housemate!): "Do, I, sound, like, a, singing, robot"

Brother of competitor: "If I had a blood pressure it would be rocketing now!"

Any before anybody thinks of commenting on my bad spelling. Don't!!! I am proud of the way I find new spellings for words. When CNF come to power, Nurton's 'newspell' will be taught in schools.

It is a classic quote. I liked the crazy mum with the big glasses as well. How embarrassing. I always make sure my mother is locked away before I appear on TV.

Now for a question:

Why is it called a 'Bee'??? I'm sure it was explained at the begining of the film, but I missed it.

'Spaced' is supaerlative. Simon Pegg IS a genius, there are no two ways about it.

My sister text me last night half way through 'Spellbound' and insisted I turn over; although this meant missing the end of 'Footballers' Wives' I trusted in her (instead of Jesus - sorry 'Georgie') and was richly rewarded. Loved the Mum who said something along the lines of 'Here, my daughter is normal'. Love it.

Noel, thanks for quoting one of jokes on the blog - respect. My other francophobic joke is:

Did you know the French have found a way to breed frogs with extra legs? Of course, they've been breeding them without spines since about 1940.

I thank you, but must give credit to the late, great Bob Monkhouse.

Beware the statements that begin "Even if you are American . . ." :)

Ah, spaced. Just watched the last 2 episodes of the second series. So many great jokes.

"If I am your number 1 why are your treating me a like a number 2?"

"Bitter?", "No are you Tim?"

Add your favourite Spaced quotes here!!!...... (from any episode)

A few more to get you started:

"Mine will be a pint of the black stuff" - "You can't drink a pint of bovril!"

"Timmy, fetch me my tools"

"What a prick"

"No 'hard' feeling then".....

I'm annoyed at all the excellent British comedy I've been missing this past year; I saw your wishlist which reflects an excellent (similar to my own) taste in humour. I haven't seen Spaced or Spellbound and will add it to my mental (in all senses) wishlist.
I agree mark, Simon Pegg is a genius, does anyone remember what series it was he was in where they did a sketch with common expressions? THAT was pure genius. The scene: a cooking factory, a whiteboard with people explaining "so in fact, the number of cooks involved in the brewing process, is in fact hindering, the quality of the aforementioned liquid food product" or something like that, it goes on a bit. Everyone listening seriously and attentively, taking notes, then one guy (think it was Simon Pegg), starts looking around and sniggering, puts his hand up and says "so, haha, what you could say is, 'too many cooks spoil the broth'", then gets rebuttling from boss for "smart alec comments" etc. Need to see it really. Many other similar sketches. Was it "Big Train"? Can't remember but it was genius.

P.S British comedy is the best in the world ever
